Operator, scope, and access

SelfChapter is edited and operated by Merito Media LLC. These terms apply to selfchapter.com, its content, and the features described here. The legal notice identifies the entity and its mailing address.

The public content and available tools are free and do not require registration. Administrative access is restricted to authorized team members. These terms do not establish a paid subscription or authorize charges.

Editorial information and personal decisions

We publish guides about work, money, rights and procedures, health, family, and pets. The information is general and should be understood in light of its date, sources, and the country it refers to. Sharing a language does not mean a procedure or rule applies in every country.

The content is not individual legal, tax, financial, medical, or veterinary advice. Our health and care guides do not provide diagnoses or personalized treatment. When a decision calls for it, check your situation with the relevant authority or a professional. This does not exclude any liability that legally applies to the publication.

Calculators, organizers, and files

The tools calculate and organize data in your browser. Check the units, periods, and assumptions provided: comparing gross amounts is not the same as calculating take-home pay, and an estimated budget does not guarantee savings, financing, or any particular outcome.

The examples are fictional, and you can change them. Saving on this device is optional; new changes require saving again. Downloading, importing, or printing a copy does not create an account or a synchronized copy on our servers.

Keep your own copies if you need to recover your work. Clearing your browser, using private mode, or changing devices may prevent you from recovering local data. On shared devices, avoid saving private information and check where you store downloaded files.

Newsletter and RSS

To subscribe to the newsletter, you need to sign up and confirm your email address. A daily selection is prepared when at least five eligible new articles are available for that edition; an email is not guaranteed every day. You can unsubscribe using the link in the emails and confirm your request on the website.

RSS lets you follow updates with a compatible reader, without signing up by email. Linked content and resources remain subject to their own terms and attribution requirements. Subscribing to the newsletter does not mean signing up for other group services.

Responsible use and security

Do not use the service to impersonate others, introduce malicious code, send spam, bypass access controls, or unlawfully extract personal information. Measures to protect against abuse should be proportionate and respect applicable rights.

If you report a question or an error, provide the necessary information and respect the privacy and rights of others. Do not send passwords, medical records, identity documents, or complete case files to explain an editorial question.

Intellectual property and reuse

Texts, trademarks, photographs, illustrations, graphics, and files remain subject to their respective rights and licenses. Some materials belong to third parties or come from public documents. Check the attribution for each resource: citing a source does not replace permission when permission is required.

No general open license is granted for the entire archive. Uses permitted by law, the public domain, and expressly stated licenses remain unaffected. We do not claim exclusivity over facts, data, or AI-generated results merely because that technology was used; protection depends on protectable elements and applicable regulations.

You may link to our pages without implying sponsorship or a relationship that does not exist. A link alone does not authorize you to reproduce a guide in full or use SelfChapter’s identity as your own. For other uses, contact the editorial group.

Sources, links, and commercial relationships

Official websites, services, and external documents have their own terms and may change. A link does not mean we control the destination or endorse all its claims. Check its terms before providing information or making a purchase.

SelfChapter does not operate its own advertising networks or offer third-party products for purchase. Maps may display content from the provider under its own terms. If sponsorships, advertising, or links that generate commissions are added, they must be clearly identified and the relevant information updated.

Automation, corrections, and availability

The editorial process uses automation and artificial intelligence to research, draft, and check content. These checks are not equivalent to an individual professional review and do not guarantee the complete absence of errors. The methodology explains the limitations and use of sources.

We may update or suspend a guide if it is no longer current or a problem is identified. You can report errors and request corrections through the contact page. Receiving a request does not mean it will be automatically accepted or limit the available avenues for making a complaint.

The site may undergo maintenance or experience interruptions. Explanations about availability, tools, and external services do not exclude legally required liabilities or non-waivable rights.

Privacy, changes, and disputes

Privacy and Cookies explain separately how data is processed and how browser technologies are used. Reading these terms does not replace any specific consent that may be required.

The update date identifies this version. Changes do not authorize new purposes, charges, or retroactive changes to existing relationships. Applicable regulations and complaint channels are determined by the relationship and relevant territories; we do not impose an exclusive jurisdiction that limits the mandatory rights of people who use the service.
